The Nest opened on NAIT’s main campus in 1988, a result of the hard work of three partners: NAITSA, the NAIT Board of Governors, and the Alberta Government. Since then, it’s been the best place on campus for students, instructors, and staff to make friends, make memories, watch the game, and enjoy great food and drinks.
The Nest has always been owned and operated by NAIT Students’ Association, and in 2012, underwent a much-needed major front of house renovation resulting in the larger bar, fireplace lounge, accessible stage, and state of the art keg system that you see today.
As a full-service, fully licensed restaurant, on any given day we supply food and beverage to an average of 200-600 walk in guests. We have always been a sports venue where you can sit down after class to catch the big game on the big screen, but we’ve also been a fine dining venue, hosted weddings, graduations, award nights, speaker series, comedy shows, and concerts! Some notable acts to have graced our stage are Vanilla Ice, Metric, Theory of a Deadman, the Sheepdogs, Trailer Park Boys, and countless others.
In 2014, Nest Eatery was the first campus bar to be accredited a Best Bar None venue. Since then, Nest has been awarded first place in the BBN Best Campus Bar category in Edmonton every year until 2019, making it eight consecutive years that it has held that distinction. Though Nest Eatery was closed during 2020 and 2021, they came back to win first place again in 2022, demonstrating their outstanding commitment to creating a safe environment, even surpassing industry standards. In addition to be recognised by AGLC, Nest Eatery has been voted the People’s Choice Awars for Best Campus Bar in 2018, 2019 and 2022, an honor made all the more significant because it is a direct reflection of the community Nest has created.
Most recently, the restaurant went through a brand refresh to become Nest Eatery. Although the logo may be new, the great food, great service, and fun are still a part of every visit!

The Nest Eatery has invested in air-monitoring systems to ensure the cleanest, freshest and safest air on campus. You can be assured we will continue with stringent cleaning practices.
To ensure a private and secure environment for everyone, we have also implemented a policy restricting filming within our establishment without prior approval. This policy aims to eliminate unnecessary distractions, protect the privacy of both our customers and staff, minimize potential hazards associated with filming activities, guarantee unobstructed wheelchair-accessible paths, and preserve designated fire paths for emergency situations.
BEST BAR NONE
The Best Bar None program recognizes establishments that go above and beyond industry standards to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience in a well-managed setting. Best Bar None is a partnership between AGLC, the City of Edmonton and EPS with the support of the Alberta Safer Bars Council.
